Osttirol Tourist Board
East Tirol’s landscape has hardly changed for centuries. The farmers keep the land intact, which makes the area a unique habitat. Many people climb East Tirol’s highest peaks for the promised sunshine and the breathtaking views. Follow the hiking trails through flowering alpine meadows to a hut and indulge in a hearty snack. Once you have climbed the peak, all your worries will just melt away.
Austria’s highest mountains, Grossglockner and Grossvenediger, are located in East Tirol. Take a tour around Grossglockner – it’s a great experience. Roads like Pustertaler Höhenstrasse and Kalser Glocknerstrasse are worth a visit, too.
East Tirol is interesting year round. Take advantage of the TOP Ski Osttirol ski pass in winter and the Osttirol Card in summer. Spring in East Tirol is famous for its abundance of alpine roses, and autumn brings all the beautiful colors.
Lots of great events are part of the program. Enjoy sports events such as the "Dolomitenradrundfahrt" bicycle marathon, the "Dolomitenmann", the world’s toughest team relay, or the Alpine Ski World Cup. Traditional summer events include the Lienz town festival and the Schnapps Distilling Festival, winter events include the “Klaubauf” days and the Christmas market.
Experience East Tirol’s lively culture: Brass concerts, church fairs, fairs with traditional clothes and ancient customs, farm markets, farm arts and crafts.
