The mortgage on the von Auerstein family property has been terminated. In order to save the property a friend of the baroness has the idea of raising the money if Franz, the son of the baroness, marries his daughter, Daniele. Both become friends, but have no wish to relinquish their freedom so they act out a pretence to their parents. This finally results in numerous mix-ups and four weddings.
