Georgia Byrd (Queen Latifah) is a mousy person. Her life as a bookkeeper is modest and predictable. Until the day on which she learns that she is incurably ill and that death is near. Decisively, Georgia sells all her worldly possessions and travels to Europe. Her aim is to await the end stylishly and classily in a grand hotel. Georgia tries to adapt to high society and her eccentric conduct leaves a lasting impression with the beautiful people. She is soon one of them.
