A spiteful television presenter gets into difficulties at Christmas and takes refuge in a barn where others are sheltering. He is confronted with their fates and wants to leave, to get away from these assembled needs, fears and feelings. But the snow drives him back. The dynamics in the hut compel him to act, to come to terms with the people there, alien as they seem to him. He discovers that part of these people is a part of himself, that not everyone has his fate in his own hands and that the laughter of a pretty young woman can make life worth living.
