Today, natural cultivation and a new self-confidence amongst the population of the Austrian mountain pastures make for an incomparable environment in the heart of Europe. What was once regarded facetiously as a rustic "Heidi-land" now enjoys cult status: from Alpine butter to linen dirndl dresses, from mountain milk to whey baths - products that upvalue the "ALM", or Alpine, trademark. The film examines this revaluation and pays homage to the beauty of the indispensable environment and its inhabitants. Three mountain pastures from different regions provide the focal point.
