Joe (Jana Pallaske) can stand it no longer at home. She runs away, together with her dog, but does not know where to go. By the cathedral she meets the street boy Engel (Robert Stadlober) who ran away from a home two years ago and fends for himself alone or with the help of his gang. Out of the blue they both fall in love, but after the first night Joe is back with her mother who is suicidal, something for which Engel has little understanding and which gives rise to the first row. Joe stays on the street nevertheless, making friends with another, more streetwise girl. At the next rave Joe is so drunk that she goes to bed with the next best man. She mentions none of this when she meets Engel again, but then she realizes she is pregnant and does not know who the father is. She would like to stay with Engel, but wonders whether a heroin addict can be a good father.
