When Regina, Hansi's wife, is killed in a tragic mountain accident, the idyllic days at the Branderhof give way to grief. Again, the Sandhofers have to stick together to deal with a cruel stroke of fate. Christine, a cheerful, pretty girl with a mysterious background, lights up Hansi's life like the first ray of sunshine after a long winter. Since Hansi believes that he cannot fall in love again, the family – and above all Sonja – help him lovingly, sensitively and with humour so that he can refind himself and understand that a new love is like new life. He does not at first
realize why Christine reminds him so much of Regina.
